To achieve a fair and equitable future for all Canadians, where Black public service workers are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

Our Demands

Establish a compensation fund for Black employees impacted by discrimination.

Create an independent body for reporting harassment and misconduct.

Ensure equitable representation of Black Canadians at all levels of public service.

Form a Black Equity Commission to
implement change and hold government accountable.

Issue a formal apology from the Prime Minister for past injustices.

For over 50 years, Black public service workers in Canada have faced systemic racism and discrimination from their own government. It’s time to hold the Canadian government accountable and demand justice. Use your voice to end these injustices and ensure fair treatment for all.

Increasing Black Leadership

On January 22, 2021, a directive was issued to increase the number of Black leaders in the federal public service.

Fairer Hiring Practices: Reducing Bias

On July 7, 2021, changes were made to the Public Service Employment Act to ensure hiring and promotions are fair and merit-based.

$49M for Mental Health and Career Support

In 2022 and 2023, over $49M was dedicated to mental health support and career development programs for Black public service employees.

Employment Equity

Act Review

A review of the Employment Equity Act started in 2023 to update the law and promote fair opportunities for Black and marginalized workers.
